ABOUT 7-ELEVEN

7-Eleven was founded in 1927 by J. C. Thompson under the name of Southland Ice in Dallas, Texas, U.S.A. Starting as an ice seller, 7-Eleven sold bread, milk and eggs in the evening and Sunday when most of other grocery stores had closed. This new initiative received good responses from customers and was an early form of the modern convenience store.

The store name “7-Eleven” was created in 1946, to reflect the company’s new extended hours, from 7:00am to 11:00pm, seven days per week.

Nowadays, 7-Eleven has become the largest convenience store chain in the world. There are over 62,000 stores across the globe, serving millions of customers in 19 countries. There is new store open somewhere in the world every 2 hours.
